Suicide Prevention Program

PREP Academy mental health staff provide the Signs of Suicide prevention program to all students during the winter term in order to educate students about suicide prevention.  The curriculum teaches students how to respond to a friend that talks about killing themselves.  The model incorporates the principals to “ACT” A-acknowledge your friend; C- care about them and T – tell a trusted adult. Below are resources for parents around suicide prevention and depression.

How to get your child help

  • Notify  your school social worker, psychologist, nurse or counselor.  They may do a suicide risk assessment and/or provide resources for free and low cost counseling
  • In case of a crisis take your student to a local emergency room or call 911
