Synergy’s evidenced-based trauma intervention: SITCAP-ART (Trauma Intervention Program for Adjudicated and At-Risk Youth). The grant funded group is intended to reduce PTSD symptoms and other mental health-related responses to trauma, and is based on structured sensory therapy. It consists of sensory-based activities such as drawing, imagery, and relaxation, which enables the youth to create a language (called a trauma narrative) for his or her experience. Students will learn coping skills and cognitive reframing strategies which will increase their resiliency and help them manage and make sense of their traumatic experience. Students who participate in the SITCAP therapy are also able to see an adolescent psychiatrist throughly Synergy.
