Student Health Information for the Start of the 24-25 School Year

Posted August 13, 2024

Welcome back! Here is some important info regarding student health.

Asthma: If your child has asthma, and may or will need an inhaler during school, please make sure to get an updated Asthma Action Plan filled out by you and their doctor, and turned into Nurse Williams. Plans are valid for 1 calendar year. This is REQUIRED, whether they keep their inhaler with them or not.

Severe Allergies: If your child has severe allergies to anything please make sure to get an updated Anaphylaxis Action Plan filled out by you and their doctor, and turn it in to Nurse Williams. Plans are valid for 1 calendar year. This is REQUIRED to administer any medication for allergic reactions at school.

Significant Health Condition: If your child has any other kind of important health condition, like seizures or diabetes, or other conditions that require special care at school, please call or email Nurse Williams as soon as possible, at 720-424-8460 or shamae_williams@dpsk12.net

If your child is entering the 6th grade OR never got their Tdap vaccine once they started 6th grade or turned 11, please make arrangements to get that REQUIRED vaccine as soon as possible. If you child doesn’t have a pediatrician or clinic they can go to get this, here are some NO COST options:

  • School Based Health Clinics: You can get any needed vaccine for no cost at any of our School Based Health Clinics! Here is the flyer for locations and info.
  • Shots for Tots and Teens: This is a no cost service that has multiple locations on different dates around the city. Check out the latest flyer here for info.

If your child becomes sick, mildly injured, just needs some Tylenol or ibuprofen for pain, or may need to see a doctor during the school day, would it help you if they could do so in PREP’s health office, on a video visit with Nurse Williams?! If so, please fill out the consent below online, and let Nurse Williams know you did so! This consent is now good for up to 4 years, so you won’t need to do it again every year!

If you need anything else, or if you need assistance with any of the above items, I am happy to help! You can reach me by phone in the school health office, Monday through Friday, 8am to 4pm, at 720-424-8460, from calling the school’s main number, at 720-424-8451, or by email at shamae_williams@dpsk12.net

I look forward to an amazing school year, and seeing all of you soon!!
